It's estimated that children will see 350,000 commercials before they finish high school, and it's important that they're capable of viewing those ads with a critical eye.
While many parents might prefer that it was not the case, there is no way that you can prevent your children from being exposed to advertising.
"You can't create an environment for children and put them in cotton wool," says Professor Matt Sanders, Director of the University of Queensland's Parenting and Family Support Centre.
